CHOONG JANG
Choong Jang is the pseudonym given to General Kim Duk Ryang who lived during the Yi Dynasty during the 15th century. This patterns ends with a left-hand attack to symbolize the tragedy of his death at 27 in prison before he was able to reach full maturity. The pattern has 52 movements.
New Techniques
Double Finger Thrust
Low Front Snap Kick w/Knee
Pressing Block w/Twin Palm
Downward Strike w/Back Hand
Horizontal Strike w/Twin Knife-Hand
High Strike w/Arc Hand
Crescent Punch w/Twin Fore-Knuckle
Open Fist Punch
Additional Information
The high double finger thrust is executed almost in the same manner as that of the forefist, except that the attacking tool does not have to be drawn from the hip. For the double finger, the forefinger and middle finger are extended and bending slightly while the others are clenched. Press the ring finger with the thumb. This attacking tool can only be utilized against the eyes.
A low front snap kick with the knee is used to attack an opponent who is very close to the attacker. The kick is executed when the stationary leg is bent. Keep the toes of the stationary foot pointed to the front at the moment of impact.
For the downward strike with back hand the attacking tool reaches the target in a circular motion. Keep the forearms crossed in front of the chest with both back fists faced upward, placing the striking one under the other.
The open fist is created when the wrist is bent upward and all except the main knuckles are bent towards the palm. This is used to attack the nose, jaw and point of the chin.
The pressing block with twin palm is executed against a low attack only. This technique is used only when the defender wishes to check, rather than break the attacking foot. This technique is effective against the ball of the foot, heel or knee attack.
The horizontal strike with twin knife-hand is very useful in attacking two opponents simultaneously approaching from the rear. Keep the body full-facing the front at the moment of impact and keep the arms straight and horizontal at the moment of impact.
The high strike with arc-hand is for attacking the high section of the body only. It is used to attack the Adam's apple, point of the chin and upper neck. Bend the three fingers slightly deeper than the forefinger while thumb is bent toward the little finger.
The crescent punch with twin fore-knuckle fist is used for medium range attacks. The fore-knuckle fist must reach the target in an arc.
